My homegirl Imade gives her candid opinion on the legitimacy of what some people (myself included) are calling CHH’s greatest contribution to the culture. Imade you got some explaining to do?
In this exclusive HeatCasters editorial we ask the question; do we need a Christian Hip Hop label? What do you think? Read Imade’s thoughts as she dives deep into this hot topic.
As followers of Jesus one of our desires “should” be to learn to see people and situations with the heart of God. However because God’s ways are higher than ours ways just as a parents ways are higher than a young child, sometimes we miss what God is really trying to do. I say that to say this; I don’t agree with everything written in this article but I see the writers heart behind the words and if you use your ability to objectively discern I think you will as well. In my view one simple line sums up spirit of the article “I couldn’t stand my parents as a teenager, but I loved them regardless. Why wouldn’t I extend that same unconditional love towards the Creator of the Universe?” Decide how you feel after you read this piece. Bless.
This month Imade takes a look at some secular artist and their views on Jesus, some of their misconceptions, and how the Christian faith is communicated through the misguided minds of mainstream Hip Hop. Don’t judge, just pray for these cats.
